FAQ
Do you use fresh flowers?
You can add seasonal fresh flowers as an add-on to your cake. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to source the exact colour or flower you are after but will let you know well in advance if this is the case.
Do you use food colouring or fondant?
Yes, I use Colour Mill oil and gel colours sparingly for accents such as piped buttercream rosettes, however I prefer not to use food colouring to give the cake a more natural look and finish. I use fondant very sparingly and only for very special requests but do not offer fondant cakes in my standard menu.
Do you do writing on cakes?
Yes, I offer short handwritten messages as an add-on to some of my cakes depending on the style. Handwriting is done in buttercream only.
Do you offer pickup or delivery?
Yes, I offer pickup from Brighton East on Saturdays or Sundays between 10am - 12pm or 3pm - 5pm. No other windows are accepted. I am happy to give you a quote for delivery if you are wanting the cake delivered to your event (and can deliver the day before or on the day if available)
How should I serve my cake to my guests?
Always serve your cake at room temperature to allow the buttercream to come to a delicious soft texture and consistency. If the cake has been in the fridge, take out 45 minutes to 60 minutes before you wish to serve.
How can I store my leftovers?
Keep any leftovers (if there are any!) in an airtight container in the refrigerator, or frozen for up to 2 months. Defrost/thaw and allow to come to room temperature before serving.
What is the best way to transport my cake?
I recommend storing the cake at the footwell of your passenger seat and turning on air conditioning to a very cool temperature to make sure the cake does not melt. I don't recommend having the cake sitting on the seat or in the boot of the car, where it may move around during transit.
How do I pay for my cake?
You have two options for payment:
- Pay 50% upfront, and the rest later - remaining balance due 7 days before your event. You can pay via Bank Deposit (details are sent via email)
- Pay the full amount in cash 7 days before your event
I have changes I want to make to my cake, how do I do this?
Any changes to the design or flavour of your cake must be made up to 10 days before your event. Changes after that will not be accepted.
Do you offer vegan or allergy-friendly or gluten-free cakes?
My kitchen is not gluten-free certified and there may be trace amounts of allergens present. Therefore I cannot guarantee that I can cater to gluten free/coeliac or any customers with allergies and specific dietary needs. However I am happy to discuss your needs with you and work through any specific flavours or substitutes you may wish.
